IBM MobileFirst says we sell and support Apple and iOS

Most of you read the IBM and Apple partnership announcement. I wanted to highlight a couple areas that shows IBM will be pushing iOS and Apple devices into every enterprise.

IBM and Apple (from SiliconANGLE)

Besides building applications specifically (and probably mainly) for iOS and not Android, IBM is showing it's commitment to the platform. With Apple publicly stating it wants more penetration into the enterprise market, teaming with IBM makes sense.

Here is the key part of the press release I wanted to mention.
As part of the exclusive IBM MobileFirst for iOS agreement, IBM will also sell iPhones and iPads with the industry-specific solutions to business clients worldwide. (With) unique IBM cloud services optimized for iOS, including device management, security, analytics and mobile integration; to fleet-scale device management,

The landmark partnership aims to redefine the way work will get done ....new AppleCare® service and support offering tailored to the needs of the enterprise; and new packaged offerings from IBM for device activation, supply and management.

This means that IBM will almost exclusively push iOS devices on engagements across the board. I have not seen them push any hardware for mobiel and instead offered solutions built around all of them. This will have the sales teams offering iOS hardware packages coupled with the availability of applications to roll out into major services agreements.

Why a major service agreement? Well IBM will be doing the onsite installation and service for AppleCare instead of these large enterprises having to go into Apple stores.
Mobile service and support: AppleCare for Enterprise will provide IT departments and end users with 24/7 assistance from Apple’s award-winning customer support group, with on-site service delivered by IBM.

A win for Apple to dig into enterprise management. Honestly, we know that most BYOD is already Apple, followed by Android.  Windows mobile isn't really a percentage you want to try and count. The win from IBM is giving them more than a bunch of slides around what apps you can build and how social business is the way to go.  They can now walk in and say here is sample apps and here are devices you can buy today that we will help you manage. Sign here.

Will you invest in stepping outside BYOD and into enterprise AppleCare with support from IBM?
