Chris is back, but clearly too busy catching up to talk to us!
Chris is back from his vacation, but since
he didn't post, I decided he needed just one more blogjacking. Since Chris
is all about IM, I thought I might talk about a cool chat I had today with
Ed
and Volker.
Volker was in iChat, I was in Trillian, and Ed was using AIM. We all participated
in the same chat -- and despite Microsoft's attempt to distance MSN from
aggregators like Trillian,
I think the future of IM is all about interoperability. The big enterprise
competitors are quickly reaching parity in features, but the big differentiator
will be, I think, the ability to interoperate and communicate with colleagues
outside of your IM environment with full messaging fidelity...
By the way -- here's what the chat in iChat looks like -- I think it looks
so great (although as Volker pointed out, I need a new buddy icon -- I'm
working on it, I'm working on it!) -- maybe the feature parity isn't
as close as I think....
