Chris reviews Notes/Domino 6.5 in e-Pro Magazine

Now, Chris himself would be too modest to link to this (I think), but all's fair in love and blogjacking....
The September, 2003, issue of e-Pro magazine arrived on my desktop via Zinio yestrerday.  It includes Chris's review of Notes/Domino 6.5 (must be an e-Pro subscriber to access link, but geez, subscribing is free so what are you waiting for?!?!?!).  He's written about a feature that he introduced to me as well -- sometimes even being on the inside isn't enough to know about all the cool stuff going into a new release:

For example, when you wish to send an instant message, you can click the new toolbar icon (and here comes the cool part). A pop-up box appears that lets you type the name of the person to whom you want to send an instant message. I love that feature! I can quickly type a first, last, or partial name of someone, and Notes displays either a list of people who match or an automatic IM with the only available selection. For example, type Dave here at our office, and you get five billion optional names it seems. But Notes 6.5 will read the other aliases in the fullname field (as of this writing).

The review is timely as it's just a couple of weeks before Notes/Domino 6.5 goes "gold".  There are about 15 new features in the Notes client, new platform support for the Domino server (zSeries Linux), and a huge amount of improvements with Domino Web Access, including Linux client support.  The gap between Domino Web Access and the Notes client for mail and calendaring is now getting very, very small.  Check the release out at lotus.com.
