The Trip
I landed yesterday from my 3 day trip up east. Amazingly the flights
both ways had no delays and arrived early each direction. Now if
someone can tell me how to make that happen consistently. While there
I did manage to talk to Ed
while he was having mail routing issues. That or the food
coma I was in contributed to
me not seeing any solution. I was so stuffed I could hardly stay
awake.
I spent time at a school district outside of Philadelphia upgrading them
from Domino 5.x to ND 6.02. Also a swap to bigger hardware and building
two new ones for students. The whole staff was moved to iNotes also
while I was there. Removing quotas to add the template was the most
irritating part. So many users were over the quota that the design
would not apply. But thanks to the lovely Admin client, I quickly
removed the quota, did the convert and reaplied quotas. Not a big
thing overall. The hardest part was getting Symantec Anti-virus for
Domino installed and functioning. After three support calls to the
vendor, we got the new definitions loaded and the software scanning.
Plus the lovely registry bug that is technoted.
When you install on Win 2k, apparently a registry
setting isn't put into place
and mail will not route. We have now encountered this three times.
Each time that technote solved the problem. The install itself
was a fresh one and then I moved some data files across. So this
had to happen on the new install of the software of ND6.
Next week and guest bloggers
Ok, next week I am on vacation for my annual disconnected week. (queue
the music here) I don't touch a computer or cell phone at all that week
and I have done this for eight years. Really leaves me refreshed
and looking forward to getting back at it when I return. But don't
fear!!! I won't leave you unattended. I have talked to some people
we all know and love about guest blogging for me on some days. This
should get interesting after the damage
I have done a few times.
P.S. oops, had to come back in and change
the font sizing.
