Platform versus platform
So the first event of the day is to finish this audit of a customer site.
The customer chose not to utilize us three years ago to provide the
initial installation and configuration of their Domino environment. Well
like a deer
in headlights, here they come asking
us to review, fix and manage it. After two days of poking around,
I see that the wonderful partner that did the initial work, well, they
didn't have all the clues. Like telling someone the bus is over there,
and pointing to a school parking lot.
Also, Bruce
Elgort, who is at this same time
sending me IM's,
seems to think he isn't too mystical as I posted the other day. Lets
change the word to enigmatic
But I digress, back to the issue at hand....now the customer wants to roll
out another 11,000 users and are wondering about what platform. Well
that is a whole battle in itself. Of course we will be shooting to
host
most of it. So let me read the rest of their network configuration
and skillset and get back to you shortly. I have a strange feeling
their current architecture that includes Domino servers outside the firewall
and default installation settings isn't good :-)
.............ok back to you live at 3:30pm and you should
see a few changes to the right side. Yes I have been playing around
with the dev side. Never fear, it is not a habit. But there
are some things I wanted to do. I have been in touch with Steve,
the designer of the template for this blog. Look
for some new features in the near future, I was happy to hear about them.
As for the other issue of platform, let's just say I am
thinking of moving them to the xBOX
platform that Daniel Nashed did a bit ago. What
a revolution in being able to take the server down. A nice first-person
shooter game is all you need. LOL
