The TP-Link N150 Nano Travel Router (model TL-WRT702N) is a perfect travel sized router, bridge, access point (AP) and repeater all in one tiny device.

The TL-WR702N from TP-Link has now replaced it's big brother in my travel arsenal. The small design makes it the perfect travel companion. Once you understand how to log into the management screens, which I cover below, changing the settings is easy.

The device uses the serial number as part of the access point name as well as the password. I would suggest changing these as it makes authenticating with one pretty simple if you leave the defaults. You can name the access point whatever you wish and even hide it from the public. If you wish to use it as a repeater you must make the name of it the same as the network you are repeating.

To log into the router to make any configuration changes, you must manually set your IP address on the device (phone, iPad, computer) to something in the 192.168.0.xxx range up to 192.168.0.254. You then use the .254 address in your browser and log in with the default username and password of 'admin' for both. I suggest changing these as well once you get the hang on the device.

The power cord is very short that comes with it, so make sure you can plug it in near where the hotel ethernet cable is. I leave it in access point (AP) mode most of the time, plug it into the wall and the hotel ethernet and have my own mini and more secure access point to hook up numerous devices. I have tested up to 12 devices at once on it with no issues. That should satisfy most travelers. You could use this more wide scale but the range is not huge due to the size. Lots of walls, like hotel bathrooms, can affect signal strength. it does better in open rooms.

In summary I love this nano model from TP-Link.
