Lotus reduces the requirements to be Lotus certified

Tags :

This snuck under my radar, but one of my team here at Connectria caught it.  Lotus has decided to adjust the requirements DOWN to achieve certification levels.

The IBM Certification Program for Lotus Software is working on the restructuring of the Lotus Notes Domino 8.5 Certification paths for both Application Developers and System Administrators. After receiving feedback from the certified community, examining the requirements of both job roles and taking into account the monetary cost of taking three exams, the decision was made to reduce the number of core tests from three to two.

Material will not be removed from the tests, rather it will be divided between two exams instead of three. Given the amount of work this entails, the program will not be altering the certification paths for Lotus Notes Domino 8.

They have a long listing of scenarios and information on how this affects new test takers.  I imagine this will move forward into the Next releases of Notes.

Also note that there will no longer by an Associate level for certification. They are sunsetting it.

Associate level certifications will be withdrawn
- Currently, passing the first of three core exams results in an associate level certification. Once the restructuring has been complete, the associate level certifications will be sunset. Note that they will still count toward Partnerworld points until the end of the year

Oh and another thing.  If you have taken the one exam to get certified as Associate, get moving.  You now have 5 months to complete the others get get fully certified.  Or start over I guess.

Scenario 1: A professional has achieved associated level certification in ND8.5 in either stream (they have passed the first core exam)
Best Option
: Take the second and third core test before the end of the year
