In a recent blog posting from Kramer Reeves,  Director/Product Management for Messaging and Collaboration, he announced the extension of End of Life (EOL) for 8.5.x support until September 2016. This is good news to give companies even more time to plan upgrades.

Speaking of companies he goes on to say...
Every day I meet with IBM Clients to share our vision and roadmap for the future, and it's an exciting story. They tell me they want to invest the right level of planning to prepare for an IBM Cloud deployment or move...

I know we speak with countless customers, and while they explore the option of cloud, most still want servers at the enterprise. Many see there is complexity to splitting your users into a cross certification paths with IBM SmartCloud instead of simple cloud hosting, like we do, as an extension of your existing domain.

This allows onboarding to be days instead of weeks and removes complexity. Intermediary servers are gone, pass-thru servers are not required. In many instances the server can be the same name as the previous in house server allowing a simple DNS change to reduce end user configuration changes too.
