Sametime Classic
Serious?
could be worse
could be "Sametime Legacy".
could be "Sametime Standard" AND "Sametime Basic" -- that would be better, right?
Wait a minute.....
Yay... But it's a classy classic, that's for sure!
Just to be clear Chris - it is not "Sametime Classic" - it is "Sametime Classic Meetings". This is to define the difference between the new 8.5 Sametime Meeting service (on Websphere) and the previous Meeting service (on Domino). It is important to have two names since they are both going to be supported so we need to know which is which.
The other Sametime capabilities (Enterprise IM, Presence etc) continue to run on Domino and are still refered to as the Sametime Community Server. The confusion may have arisen because it iwill be possible (and for some existing customers very desirable) to run the Community Server and Classic Meeting Server on the same Domino Box.
To summerize: Sametime on Domino is not "Classic". Just the Sametime Meeting Server on Domino.

Naming is the hardest part ... The basic/standard configuration does not stick. We refer to classic Notes as Notes, and to new Notes as boat anchor.
no, no. Not "boat anchor".

Why muddy the waters? Why obfuscate what these products are and do? I thought Lotus/IBM learned their lesson the LAST time they tried to rename Sametime and Quickplace (Quickr is ok, it is a derivative of Quickplace), but I know IBM/Lotus has a very short corporate memory (reminds me of the memory of a goldfish).
Just call them Sametime Community, Sametime Meetings on Domino, and Sametime Meetings on Websphere.
Geesh...

hmm - Sametime community.. good
Sametime meetings on websphere - STW.. good
Sametime meetings on domino - STD.. priceless. ;)
Sorry, its been a long day.
Yes this is a blatant theft of the outline that Jess uses on her page, but I asked permission. Why?? Because I am a hardcore admin and can make ugly tables to make you developers frustrated, but this was too nice to pass up.
Yes, I write some of those dreaded admin cert exams you take. I won't say which ones so you don't come looking for me, but I will say they are the real good recent ones that have been coming out.

I am a self-proclaimed MP3 fiend, to which I have tried rehab 4 billion times to no avail. Next is the MP3 hard-drive for the car that I found. Now what kind of music you ask? I will never tell.

Hershey’s Stomach of Holding: Jess and I are fighting over who eats more chocolate.
This will take far more time than I have today. I will start with I was born and still live in St. Louis, MO. Even though for a couple years I was never, ever here and always on the road, this is smack in the middle of the US. Everything is just a few hour flight. That part is nice. No beach/ocean/coast isn't the best. But with the travel I make up for it.

Looking to find me in person? Here is where I am and will be.
