I compare the Wallet TrackR and the Kensington Proximo bluetooth tracking devices and their applications in this head to head comparison. From setup, function and to ease of use. See below for the full review and who wins.

Wallet TrackR was kind enough to send me an updated device for testing.  It  met the promised abilities of either finding the TrackR or using the TrackR to find the phone itself.

The app did not eat up a huge amount of resources on the iOS device. You can have multiple TrackR devices assigned to your application. The app is cleanly designed and was simple to use (I put a small app review piece in here because the device is useless without the app).

I love the idea of the crowdsourcing the location of these. The idea is someone else's phone/tablet could see your device pass by (not who you are or anything) and just report that device ID up to the cloud. Then if something gets lost or stolen you have a chance of it being picked up. The TrackR easily sits in a purse side or wallet slot and they make other options. So I do like that.

The Wallet TrackR  felt sturdy and survived a drop test. I don't carry a wallet so having it in my pocket all day was not possible but the profile is pretty thin. I also liked that they make multiple sizes and shaped devices that all work with the same app.

The alerts worked well in finding the Wallet TrackR and when using the TrackR to find the iPad. However, the TrackR could be very quiet when it was buried under something as I show you directly in the video

I imagine these will get better and better over time. If you have the habit of leaving something all the time, then the alert system when an item is out of range is good. Just remember when you are home and drop your keys on the table and then walk away it will set the alarm off. I turned that feature off

Overall this product did exactly what it states. The app worked well and was very easy to understand. The graphics were clean and the Fob really only has one button so anyone can use it right away.

Pros:
In testing we found the Kensington Proximo Fob would activate the sound on the iPad if it was misplaced and the iPad would activate the sound on the Fob. Both worked perfectly well as long as they were in Bluetooth range. The battery (standard watch type found anywhere) was easy to install and it even came with a tiny screwdriver in the case.

The strength meter on the application let you know how close overall (not direction) you were to the fob itself. You could move around slowly to see the bar increase and decrease. You can also add up to 4 of their fobs, all with unique names, which is helpful for your car, house, pet and more.

Cons:
The main thing I did not like was how easy they made the button to press on accident. Simply placing it in your computer bag, pocket, hand or even upside down on the table with a key leaning against it would set the alarm off on the iPad. There has to be a way to make that button harder to get to while looking sleek and simple.

The size of the key hook makes the fob lie at a funny angle on most modern car keys that have the chip. House keys were not bad. Due to the width of the fob and then the key it always had a V shape making it tough on pockets. I suggest adding a sturdy ring for the fob and any keys and not attaching right to it.

Did I mention the ease of pressing the button on accident?

-==Summary==-

They are pretty comparable overall in distance and basic functions.  The button was easier to accidentally press in Proximo but the ability to use the app to find the device was better when in the room.  The TrackR used better mapping when an item was somewhere else entirely.
