Tom Duff and Marie Scott are doing an awesome developer session on Tivoli Directory Integrator (TDI) for Consultant In Your Pocket.  There are a few slots left to attend (really just a few) for some of the best tips to utilize TDI in your dev planning..

Join Marie Scott and Thomas Duff as they introduce you to the fundamentals of Tivoli Directory Integrator and then show you how you can set up your own TDI jobs to take your data synchronization requirements to the next level.  In this session, the focus will be on non-directory data integration from a development standpoint, with a future session targeted towards the administrative use of TDI to synchronize directories across operating systems and platforms

They are also planning the TDI for administrator sessions to follow shortly

I had this in the works for some time, but the list was not fully up to date.  It is now updated with all the Lotus blogs I could find.  I built a Google Custom Search Engine to weed out sites that try to use keywords to draw some of the search focus away.  This way we can quickly sort through all of the blogger and technical Lotus content with a narrow focus of a half a thousand sites.

You will always find this engine in the search section on the right side of my IdoNotes blog homepage. I went ahead an embedded it in this posting as well for you to start using and sharing.  If you or any site is missing, the index is building still.  If by Monday you do not show, ping or email me and I can quickly verify with some filtering.

Sean Brown, Product Manager for Lotus Protector product family, joins me again to introduce the new appliance for Mail Encryption.  This goes beyond the boundaries of Notes encryption into a user to user Internet encryption using a public/private key technology, secure web interface or even encrypted PDF files.

We have talked about the Lotus Protector family a few times in Episodes 48 and 69.

I talk with Madan, the CEO of Synaptris and maker of FewClix, about their Lotus Notes application and mailfile integration.  They have provided excellent training videos on the features.   Their slogan of "email made easy" isn't far from the truth.  Their inclusion of Symphony document types in filtering jumps them ahead of the pack.

I first looked at them in Episode 70 and love the changes they made for Beta 2, including the archive support.

I talk with Reto, Product Manager of Doodle, about their Lotus Notes plug-in and integration.  They have provided a great Slideshare presentation on the steps to integrate and some of the features.  Doodle connects multiple calendars together, including branding for your company.

I have been a user of Gist for some time.  Here is a screencast of their web feature and interface before we talk Lotus.  Disclosure:
I have no other disclosure to make around that.  I am not an advisor to them, not a stakeholder or have not been paid.

Now that we have that out of the way.  Gist gets contact meta management!  This is something the Notes Personal Address Book (PNAB or names.nsf) should have been doing long ago.  Even the new OpenNTF initiative doesn't address some of this (yet as I have read their futures before writing this).  Gist understands how important linking together all your contact information is with the public side, corporate information and more.

There are still some small UI pieces to work out, but that all comes in time for a product that was in the social world and has created one mean plug-in for Lotus.

Many of you will not be able to simply drag-and-drop the plug-in.  Administrative controls shouldn't allow this.  Gist will have to come up with deployment variations to account for everyone that has proper security here.  But that is for another talk.

Yes, it is official.  IamLUG 2010 registration is open to the public.  It will be Aug 2-3 2010 in St Louis, MO.  See the site for all the details and share with your friends, user groups, management, co-workers (except the horrid ones) and more.

Slots are limited for delgates.  Sponsorship and speaking slots are open for submission as well.  If you are having trouble registering, see Paul Mooney's excellent video since we use the same template.

April is turning out to be a big month.  Consultant In Your Pocket webinars are going strong the next two weeks with the following:
The site itself underwent an overhaul in look and feel last night.  It also has it's own RSS feed for you to keep up to date with all the new dates.

There is a bunch of upcoming webinars planned covering Lotus Protector, policies, DAOS, ID Vault and more.  Too many to list.  So get over there, register and share the events as well with other administrators, developers and user groups

I have been patient with trying this across multiple plug-in providers.  Not a single one is installing following these steps:
  • Have Notes 8..5.x on your desktop
  • Open widget panel
  • Drop in a widget and it works without issue
  • Drop in a widget that then calls a plug-in to be provisioned from a remote or local site
  • The plug-in will get to the prompt to show the vendor and version, I say go for it
  • The provisioning begins and the following non-descript, nothing online except Eclipse coding, PIA error

CWPPR0032E: The Requested provisioning operation(s) failed

Yes, I have tried multiple ways, even locally.  Multiple plug-ins and see the same errors across many of them.  Try the same exact plug-in from the same exact source and location on Windows XP/Vista there is no problem.

Now I am not sitting here blaming Notes or Windows since I don't know which one is doing it.  But the one that is will be reprimanded accordingly

Why pay for all that expensive travel cost?  Join us for another quality webinar next week on April 15 2010.   Soon, the subscription webcast series will open with deep technical content, so pay close attention for discounts and early registration as full series subscribers will be limited.

Are you having difficulty understanding all the differences in LotusLive iNotes, Notes, Notes Web and other packages?  How does integration work with my current environment?  How does LotusLive compare to Domino hosting as we know it?

Can I use these systems for disaster recovery?  Can I integrate my directory?  Can you make this simpler for me to grasp?

Join us to walk through all of these questions to provide some simple explanations and how this is beginning to fit together.  Find out what parts could fit your current infrastructure and what portions are new.

Registration is now open for this new webinar in the ConsultantInYourPocket series.

I read an interesting topic in a forum about the growth of a public widget catalog.  Gabriella and I put that together some time ago (on the same server you get the annual Lotusphere database from Link),  The idea was to have the general public create and take away useful widgets for the Lotus Notes client.  It did well for a while as we showed it at conferences and blogged about it some. Then it lapsed in new activity.  Activity=access and updates
  • Are there no enterprises or developers creating cool widgets that can be shared?
  • Is anyone using them at all outside of demo and fun (and outside of IBM) ?
  • Can we build a public catalog that allows us drag and drop into our clients?
  • Is security a huge concern?
  • Are most of you even allowed to drag and drop widgets into your sidebar?
  • Have you even enabled this feature yet?

Carl has even made it easier by pointing the domain NotesWidgets to the same database at Turtle, which makes it easy to hit this database via Notes publicly or the web.  Could we begin a movement where everyone adds maybe one widget to the catalog and hopefully finds one worth taking for use?

Does IBM see value in adding this to the OpenNTF movement as a whole.  I know certain widgets make it along in the site there, but there has to be huge amounts of widgets being developed or available that no one ever sees.

## Notes Connectivity ###
